Claire McCaffrey
Marriage & Family Therapist Trainee
Hello there! I am Claire McCaffrey (they/them/she/her). I am intrigued by collaborating with the people I work with, engaging in sensations that arise in the body, and stories that we tell ourselves, have been told to us and we have internalized. I am most drawn to the family systems structures and will be holding the individual experience in the context of the larger structures around us. I am excited to hold space for folks experiencing anxiety, depression, global fears, LGBTQIA+ joys and challenges, self-doubt, and relationship connections and frustration. I am in allyship with Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. I appreciate holding space for gender identity process, sexual orientation exploration, and varied types of relationships (non monogamous and poly friendly). I have most experience working with teens in high school settings, as well as residential treatment programs, and theater classes.
Education
I received my BA from Sonoma State University (SSU) in 2008 in Theater Arts and have created experimental plays exploring bodies, spaces, and stories since. I am currently in the Community Mental Health program at the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) in San Francisco.
